The Design
m i t t e n s by w i e s e k n i t is at knitting pattern for a pair of mittens which is elegant, simple and have some beautiful details.
The pattern is written in an easy to understand language, and with few technical explanations.
A long the way I will guide you to measure the mittens, so you will end up with a pair of mittens that fits exactly to your hand.
The pattern is an ideal candidate for a scrap yarn project as you only need around 50 g of yarn.
Yarn
Usage and suggestions:
50-75 (50-75) g Filcolana Peruvian Highland Wool 100 m [109 yds] / 50 g or Heavy Merino by Knitting for Olive 110 m [120 yds] / 50 g
Size and dimensions
Str. 1: 17-22 cm [6 3⁄4-8 3⁄4 in]
Str. (2): (22-25 cm) [8 3⁄4-10 in]
Fit
Circumference, measured around the knuckles from your index finger to your little finger: 17-22 cm (22-25 cm)
Length, from your wrist to the top of your middle finger: you will be prompted to try the mitts on as you knit, so they are perfectly fitted to your hands. I have written all the instructions for perfect sizing along the way.
Materials and recommended needles
4 mm [US 6] double pointed needles or long circulars for magic loop
4.5 mm [US 7] double pointed needles or long circulars for magic loop
A large safety pin or scrap yarn to leave sts on hold.
Dull wool needle to weave in loose ends.
Gauge
20 stitches x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] on 4.5 mm [US 7] needle (it is recommended to knit a swatch and wash it)
